Kichha is a tehsil and municipality located in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, India. Situated in the fertile Terai region, Kichha stands at an elevation of approximately 293 meters (953 feet) above sea level. The town is characterized by its flat, arable lands, making it highly suitable for agriculture.
It functions as a Nagar Palika Parishad (municipal council) and is one of the nine tehsils in the district. Kichha is well-connected by road and rail, with the Kichha Railway Station on the North Eastern Railway line providing access to major cities.

2.Demographics and Cultural Fabric

According to the 2011 Census, Kichha had a population of 41,965, with a literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy stands at 83%, and female literacy at 59%.
The religious composition includes approximately 45% Hindus, 30% Muslims, and 20% Sikhs, with about 5% from tribal communities such as the Tharu and Buxa. Ethnic diversity includes Punjabis, Banias, Sindhis, Bengalis (many migrated during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War), and indigenous tribes. Languages spoken include Hindi (official), Khari Boli, Kumaoni, Punjabi, Bengali, and Urdu.

Kichha’s economy is primarily agrarian, taking advantage of the fertile Terai plains. Major crops grown include rice, wheat, and sugarcane. The town has seen infrastructural growth in recent years.
