Principal’s Message
“The true purpose of education is not merely to impart knowledge, but to build character, awaken social responsibility, and uphold the values of justice , freedom and equality.”
Acharya Narendra Deva
It gives me immense pride and joy to welcome all our stakeholders—students, parents, faculty, alumni, and community members,—to Rajkiya Mahavidyalaya Kichha.
Our journey began in 2019 with humble roots—three classrooms in the Mandi Parishad campus. Since then, through perseverance, community support, and a shared vision for inclusive development, we have grown into a thriving institution on our own campus in Khurpiya, nurturing over 330 students—most of whom are young women and first- generation learners.
As a government college affiliated with Kumaun University, Nainital, we are proud to be a mono-faculty institution in the Arts stream, comprising six dynamic departments. Yet, our purpose extends far beyond academics. Our aim is to cultivate responsible, ethical, and socially aware citizens who value critical thinking, creativity, and compassion.
Our college is deeply rooted in values that shape our identity. We are committed to inclusivity and social justice, ensuring equal opportunity and dignity for all while combating all forms of discrimination. We believe in empowerment through education, recognizing it as a transformative force that builds confidence and enables active participation in societal change. Value-based education is central to our philosophy—our curriculum and campus culture draw upon ethical principles and the richness of Bhartiya Gyan Parampara to instill integrity and respect for diversity.
We encourage our students to connect their learning with the real world through community engagement, rural outreach, and participatory service. Environmental consciousness is another cornerstone of our vision; we nurture ecological responsibility rooted in rural realities and sustainability. To ensure access and equity, we strive to bridge social and digital divides so that education remains inclusive, accessible, and empowering. We also remain committed to academic excellence that is relevant to the local context, with an emphasis on holistic development that addresses regional needs.
Our mission is closely aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, which envisions education as a path to equity, excellence, and nation-building.
As Mahatma Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” In this spirit, we aspire to create not only graduates, but grounded and thoughtful citizens committed to the betterment of society.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s timeless words guide us still: “Cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence.” At Rahkiya Mahavidyalaya, we take this aim to heart, nurturing curiosity, sensitivity, and purpose.
To our faculty and students: I encourage you to pursue your goals with integrity and passion. To our community, parents, and partners: your faith and involvement are the foundation of our success.
Though we are a young institution, our roots are strong and our direction is clear. Together, let us move forward with unity, dedication, and a shared commitment to “समग्र विकास”—Holistic Development.
With warm regards,
Professor Rajeev Rattan
